Standards for responsible collecting and community conduct

Our Ethical Standards

Members of the Daisy Mountain Rock & Mineral Club commit to the following principles:

Environmental Stewardship

  • Respect private and public property when collecting
  • Leave collection areas as we found them
  • Collect only what is permitted by landowners and regulations
  • Promote conservation of geological resources for future generations
  • Support land stewardship and environmental protection efforts

Responsible Collecting

  • Obtain proper permissions before collecting on private or public lands
  • Follow all federal, state, and local regulations regarding specimen collection
  • Respect restricted areas and protected sites
  • Practice safe collecting techniques and use proper safety equipment
  • Support educational and research objectives when possible

Community Conduct

  • Treat all members with respect and courtesy
  • Share knowledge generously with fellow members
  • Participate respectfully in club activities and discussions
  • Follow trip leader instructions and safety guidelines
  • Represent the club positively in the community
  • Support the club's mission and educational goals

Field Trip Guidelines

  • Stay with the group and follow the designated route
  • Take only what is permitted by the trip leader
  • Minimize impact on collection sites
  • Report any safety concerns to the trip leader immediately
  • Clean up after yourself and help leave the area as found

Enforcement

Members who violate this Code of Ethics may face:

  • Verbal warning
  • Written warning
  • Suspension from club activities
  • Membership revocation
